Blood on the Carpet. These are the Dog Days of Our Lives.
There was an accident at our abode last night. Blood on the carpet. Jo and Indy were playing Frisbee last night outside with hubby. First time all year! This was a historic and much looked forward to event by our hairy kids. I sat on the patio chair shivering while Scott threw the slobbery, dirty and grass laden frisbees over and over and over. All of a sudden Jo just quicky playing. He wouldn't give up the fris and he wouldn't fetch. What's the problem? We get 'em inside the house (all carpet, no hardwood) and notice the blood trail to the water bowl. What the? Jo had tore off the whole top layer of the padding on the heel part of his foot. Right to the skin! OUCH! I called the Vet. She said tearing that off is like bending our fingernails way back. It hurts! But, it does grow back - it just takes a while. Poor guy. We proceeded to follow doctors orders and wash the grass and dirt carefully off the pad with warm wet towel. We placed a piece of gauze on top. Then, we slid on my sparkling white Nike running sock. Hey, I don't run ~ I certainly don't need it. We sealed it up with some hospital tape and my boy was almost as good as new. He didn't move all night from the middle of the room as we watched Survivor. (Who is sick of Coach?) Anyway, it got really funny when we let 'em out to do their business. Jo kept lifting up his leg like it was just hacked off. Poor thing just couldn't get walking on 3 legs down. Too funny.
Anyway, I was convinced that over the night he'd chew off the "cast" but he didn't. And so, I am going to autograph it for him and see how many signatures he can collect.
