National Return a Shopping Cart Month!

National Return a Shopping Cart Month!
Nearly 2 million shopping carts are stolen each year. They
are left all over the place and abandoned from their store homes. Carts are found on the side of the road, by schools, random driveways, and in sewage ditches.  All of these missing carts need to be replaced by the store; and with an average of $100 per cart, this gets passed along to the consumer!

And so, February is National Return a Shopping Cart Month.  The idea belongs to Anthony Dinolfo, a grocery store owner whose carts had turned up just about everywhere imaginable. As he watched the 1969 historic event of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon, he had amusing thought. “I said I wouldn’t be surprised if he found a shopping cart in one of the craters.”

Kris Nandory, Owner of U-Bake says, “How can someone go to the trouble to push a shopping cart all through the store, buy a bunch of stuff, push the cart all the way to the car, unload everything, and then suddenly be too exhausted to put the cart away, even when there’s a cart return just a few spaces down?”

In a joint effort to get missing shopping carts back to where they belong, The Cheese Corner and U-Bake are offering a FREE Cookie during the month of February just for coming in and telling them you returned a shopping cart to its rightful owner.  And heck, since you’re such a Good Samaritan, they’ll even give you a coupon to use on your next visit.

Tina Tryggestad, Owner of The Cheese Corner says, “Help beautify La Crosse and take a walk. If there's a cart in your neighborhood and you live near the store, walk the cart back.” The environment and your local store owner will thank you!
